(30-Day Spoken Chinese Beginner Plan)
🗓 This is Day 7 of the 30-Day Spoken Chinese Beginner Plan
🔙 Back to Full Course: Spoken Chinese for Beginners)
Today you will learn:
How to say where you are from
How to say what you do (job / student)
How to say something about your family
How to make a short self-introduction
⏱ Study time: 15–20 minutes
Indian context:
Think of introducing yourself in a class, office, or online meeting:
“Hi, I’m from India. I’m a teacher / I’m a student. I have a family.”
By the end of today, you can do this in simple Chinese.
Learn these core lines:
Wǒ shì Yìndù rén. — I am Indian.
👉 Use this to say your country (Indian).
Wǒ zài Yìndù. — I am in India.
👉 Use this to say where you live now.
Wǒ shì xuésheng. — I am a student.
👉 Say this if you are a student.
Wǒ shì lǎoshī. — I am a teacher.
👉 Say this if you are a teacher.
Wǒ gōngzuò. — I work.
👉 Simple way to say you are working.
Wǒ yǒu jiātíng. — I have a family.
👉 Use this to talk about your family in a simple way.
Simple tip:
In Chinese, Wǒ shì … = “I am …”
Just change the last word (student, teacher, Indian, etc.).
Use this pattern:
Wǒ shì … = I am …
Examples:
Wǒ shì Yìndù rén. — I am Indian.
Wǒ shì xuésheng. — I am a student.
Wǒ shì lǎoshī. — I am a teacher.
And:
Wǒ yǒu jiātíng. — I have a family.
Practice this short introduction:
Nǐ hǎo!
(Hello!)Wǒ jiào (your name).
(My name is …)Wǒ shì Yìndù rén.
(I am Indian.)Wǒ shì xuésheng / Wǒ shì lǎoshī.
(I am a student / I am a teacher.)Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ.
(Nice to meet you.)
Indian context tip:
This is perfect for online classes, meetings, or meeting Chinese friends.
You don’t need big sentences. Just say:
Wǒ yǒu jiātíng. — I have a family.
Wǒ yǒu yí gè jiātíng. — I have a family. (one family)
That’s enough for beginners. Simple is good.
❌ Don’t try to translate long English sentences.
✅ Use short, clear lines:
Wǒ shì … (I am …)
Wǒ yǒu … (I have …)
Indian learner tip:
Think like WhatsApp short messages: short, clear, direct.
✅ Your Day 7 Task:
Say these 3 times:
Wǒ shì Yìndù rén.
Wǒ shì xuésheng / Wǒ shì lǎoshī.
Wǒ yǒu jiātíng.
Practice this full introduction:
Nǐ hǎo!
Wǒ jiào (your name).
Wǒ shì Yìndù rén.
Wǒ shì (student / teacher).
Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ.
Record your voice and listen:
Are you clear?
Are you confident?
Can you say where you are from? ✅
Can you say what you do (student/teacher)? ✅
Can you give a short self-introduction? ✅
If yes → 🎉 Great! You can now talk about yourself in Chinese.
✅ You’ve completed Day 7
